A promise......

I promise my little blog to start posting again on a regular basis....I feel so guilty of late for not putting any post on here and I have had many lovely and exciting things to blog about but, just never quite got there. So from now on I am going to try my very best to keep up with it. My inspiration today is the new online class I have started this morning ( I have a few on the go at all times...) This one is is run by Shimelle and named "Pretty Paper Party" and anyone who knows me knows I loveeeee paper. I only have a few papers hidden away in my rom....if you believe that you are mad! I have stacks and stacks of the stuff. Most are just too nice to use and one day I will actually use them for some type of project. Today, the class began with the prompt...take a piccy of your paper stash. I laughed as I had no idea where to start. I will now go and take a couple of pictures of it all. I may share them with you later....:)

If you want to go and have a nosey at Shimelle's blog and the class, start here......http://www.shimelle.com/. Well worth a look and lots of information on projects etc.

It wasn't the cupcakes in the picture that made me sign up.....honest!

Ok, I am off to take the pictures and organise what things I am going to blog about first.....make a list, I think!

Have a wonderful day and always smile.

I love Saturday mornings.........

Here we are again.....happy as can be on a bright Saturday morning! It will probably rain within the next hour or so, lets hope not, we deserve some nice weather. I will get some two weeks today as I will be on my way to Benidorm.......yes, I am actually going to Benidorm! Can you imagine??? Everyone thinks its hilarious for some reason. Probably because, I have always said I would not go, but my Friend Sue asked me to go with her, her grandaughter plus friend, so I am not one to refuse a holiday in the sun. So I will be jetting off and leaving my family for a week. I think they will be ok, we will see!!! I have been busy finding lots of lovely clothes for it and also the "biggie" holiday in Aug. Ohhhh, did I tell you about that one? Mike and I have have been married 25 years on the 30th Aug, back in 1986 he was mad enough to marry me....hehe. We are going on one great holiday for 12 nights and now I am going to make you all so envious, are you ready for this????? 3 nights in Las Vegas, gambling for me....no, it will be craft shopping for me and when I said this to him he groaned as all men do when they are not happy about things you say.  He has agreed I can post the things home rather than putting everything in his case like I do.....I need room for my shoes so he has to have some space for them. Then we go to Miami for 2 nights, so I will have to get my skates out to go along the prom fitting in with everyone else.....think not!!! Years since I went skating, I was very good back then,  but I think now I would break something and it would not be the skates.  We the go to Fort Lauderdale to get the cruise ship to whisk us away on our 7 night caribean cruise. So exciting!!! I can't wait. I will let you know how the packing goes later....watch this space!

Now back to my creating, I went to Doncaster on a road trip with Jennifer and Gill once again to The Dome craft show. It was great and I highly recommend a trip out for the next one on 23rd Oct. It was only £5 admission and such great retailers to buy goodies from. I was good (well, sort of) I did not buy too much, it depends when you say "how much is too much" lol. It was not good when I got home as I never had chance to "de-price" the items I bought before Mike seen them and he noticed this time. Men and craft do not usually mix or should I say Mike and craft do not mix, he does not understand. Jennifer's husband, Angus, really has an interest in crafting and everything that goes with it. He was kind enough to drive us all the way to Doncaster.

My online class has now finished but I have another starting on Monday and this time it is run my an English person so it will be in the right timezone for once for me. I will be using a wacom bamboo tablet (sounds so very complicated) and photoshop to learn how to make digital art. I can't wait to start. My completed class was "She has 3 hearts" and we all have 3 hearts but how we use them is very personal to the individual. My 3 hearts are, one for my family, one for my friends and then finally the one I have for myself. As a mum, wife and daughter, you are never really "you". I have been coming out of a very dark bubble over the past months and some know how this "bubble" happened and some don't but I am gradually getting myself together and finding what I should use that 3rd heart for. It is confusing, frustrating, annoying, scary, but I am sure I will find my pathway soon. I hope I do.

I am going to post some of my recent art work. I love working in an art journal as I can keep going back to work and adding to it too. I have lots of pieces of work but this is just a snippet. Enjoy....

I was right, its raining within the hour. I hope you all have a great Saturday and an even better weekend. Take care and come back soon. x

Blog neglect.....

Oh, how guilty do I feel about not blogging for so long after all the lovely comments I got about my blog over the weekend. I was so impressed that people actually read it. I was at my lovely friends wedding at the weekend. Congratulations Sam and Stephen....xx ( she told me she reads my blog!!! yehhhh!!!) We had a wonderful weekend and met some lovely people. The day was glorious, Sam looked completely beautiful, Ben was sooo utterly cute, only problem was for me, walking along the board walk in stilettos....more warning next time please!!! I managed slowly walking along but did seem to be attracting some attention by the way I was walking. I did have a little too much to drink and poor Mike had to then get me back to the car...hehe!

It was also my beautiful Charlottes birthday on Saturday too. She turned 20 and is turning into a stunning, mature, intelligent woman. I am so proud of her and what she has achieved in the past year. I look at her and cannot believe she is now 20. I remember so well the early morning arrival of my daughter and how I never nearly made it to the hospital as she wanted to arrive very suddenly. I felt a little bad being away on her birthday, but she had lots of fun with her friends and family. I decided not to make her a card this year, so I made 2 canvases for her. She really likes my art work and is always very interested in the techniques I am using.....I thinks she wants to pinch my ideas for her work really......I dont mind.

I love making paper flowers and wet the patterened paper before screwing it up tightly and then unfolding. Allow this to dry and it creates such a lovely effect with the paper. I am liking the lollipop flowers very much. Think Charlotte did too.

I have spent most of the day sorting my craft room out as my 3rd week of my "she has 3 hearts" course starts this afternoon at around 5pm. Its an american online course so I have to wait for them to catch up with a reasonable time.....thats why i have to wait all day. Not long now and I have a wonderfully clear room and even clearer desk......give it a couple of hours and it will be a disaster area once again. I came across some scrapbook pages I made in a class back in January. I loved the course and love doing scrapbooking, but as always not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do.

This one is with Mike and Daniel, he is about 11 months old. I will always remember this day at Loggerheads, Mold in Wales. It was a day spent with my dad, mum, Mike and Daniel who had just started to walk. When I was little my dad and mum use to take me here so my dad could go and fly fish and we could sit int he sun and picnic. So many fond memories and a place I really love. I even think my dad asked my mum to marry him for the zillionth time that day.....she told him she never married him 20 years previously and had no intention of ever saying yes.......yes, you had to be there to see the funny side.

This one is Charlotte and Mike in Ayr, Scotland. She is nearly 2 and a lady wanted a photo of her because of her vivid red hair.....as always and I have no idea where she gets this from (me!) she hated having her photo took but the lady did manage to get one. We have been back to Ayr many times but will always remember this day by the river.

Charlotte again.....I will get complaints about this from my kids.....why are you blogging about her all the time. Well, it has been her birthday. I love the effect of the speeding car behind her. This was our first year in France and we went to Euro disney for the first time....they loved. Seen the advert on TV atm about the excited kids? Well, my 3 were just the same when went. I love Paris, I love France....need to get back soon. I was ready to jump on the ferry yesterday whilst in Portsmouth but Mike reminded me of a little problem.....Passport!!! Maybe next time...

This is an oldie.....an oldie one of me and my lovely dad. I am about 12, terrible hair, terrible jeans...in fact not a good picture of me but I am with my dad. Its taken in 1978, in Blackpool.....before it became the crummy place it is today. I had gone on holiday with my mum and he came to visit us for the day. Its one of the rare pictures I have with my dad and I together. So I decided to scrap it and make it even more special.

I suppose I had better go and try and sort my half kitchen out. My new Ikea kitchen is nearly done now but tonight the old kitchen is being picked up by the person who bought it off Ebay.....I was amazed by the whole thing...I had 152 watchers on it and the bids went frantic at the end.....I don't mind though, we got enough money to buy the new flooring and maybe a nice treat for me.....shhh, don't tell Mike that bit as I do not think he will agree with my treat. Pity!

Have fun everyone and hopefully I will not take as long to blog next time. My head is in bits as well as my house being mad and chaos......there is light at the end of the tunnel, but you cannot always see it for the trees. Wish the tress would move and let me see clearly as its causing me not to smile as much....take care. x

Where has the week gone?

I can't believe its over a week since my last post. Its gone by so quickly and also can't believe its nearly the end of May already. I have had a funny week with lots of laughs and plenty of frowns. I have been busy painting and I start my new course tomorrow afternoon......I can't wait. I think it will be another few nights of painting into the wee small hours....

The course is another one by Christy Tomlinson, I adore her work and she is a great inspration to me. The Class is called "She had three hearts" so i will let you know what it is all about once I am well on my way with it.

SheHadThreeHeartsClassTourquise.jpg

It will consist of art journalling and lots of messy times for me and my desk. I once had a lovely black Ikea desk and now its rather splattered with various colours of paint. Maybe it is added texture to the desk...I don't know!

This was one of my first paintings I did for the "She Art Course" I have decided to put it on my blog as its a  favourite of mine and I got so many lovely comments on it in the Classe's Flickr group.

My latest painting. I have been pestered by someone to put this on my blog so they can see it and so here it is.....talalalalala!  Daniel seen it and looked oddly saying the roof is not right.....I replied by saying that was the charm of the house. Its not meant to be correctly measured....thats the fun of it all.

I have based this one on my daughters as both have the most fabulous red hair. Well, they both have flame red hair thanks to a bottle.....shhhh, dont tell them I told you all. lol! This is one of the paintings that amazed my daughter Charlotte, I was amazed that she was amazed and so on and so on.

Busy weekend with little Jessica's christening, which went wonderfully and Mike and I had the pleasure of being her god parents.....such a privilege. The day was lovely and time spent with everyone. Great day and lots of lovely pictures of my lovely family to follow. I have some really odd pictures of me taken by my lovely son Daniel. I was not happy with him but everyone else thought it was hilarious, especially the one which looks like I am sticking two fingers up at him.....ME!!!!! never ever. Me thinks some of those will be getting deleted or maybe they should go into the "funny Jackie pictures folder" most of the pictures of me are funny or so the kids think so.....hmmmmm. I dont know yet.

Have fun crafty my fellow crafters and hello to you other nosey people......you know who you are and so do I . I don't mind really....x

Port Sunlight..........

Well my day at Port Sunlight was very successful in my mind. I really enjoyed the show and there was so much variety, which I think some shows recently have not achieved. I was picked up and chauffeured this morning, lovely to see Gill again and I got to meet Jennifer (she has been reading my blog) Gill has yet to find it as she is a "newbie" crafter and not really bothered with blogs. Jennifer and I are changing that for her and now she has the beginning of a craft "stash". I think she found the show a little daunting at first but then I am sure she started to enjoy herself. I was in my element with lots of ohhh and ahhhs. I even met a few people I knew so managed to have a chat too.

Now the things I bought.....well, are you all ready for the yummy yum things??? I did get a lot and spent far too much but as I said to another lady today, "we do need the things we buy". I think we are just trying to convince ourselves about that subject. Some of my pics are not the best for now as the natural light is fast disapearing from my craft room. If we are very lucky tomorrow and we get some sun I will retake them. I highly recomend the Port Sunlight Show to any crafter and I believe the next one is in October....I will be there.

I watched a fabulous demonstration using the melting pot and the jewel enamel. A flower was made with
Tim Holtz Kraft Glassine paper and then dipped into the melted enamel to create a wonderful effect. I love making paper flowers and when i seen this I just had to have all the other bits and bobs to create the effect myself.

All my other lovely things from today. I picked up some bargains, unmounted stamps for 95p and a wooden stamp suitable for a man's card for the large amount of £1.50 (marked up at £8.50) I like bargains and managed to find a few today......

Not the best picture for you to see but........squint your eyes and it may make it better for you.

My Tim Holtz goodies.......I have no idea what to do first.

An end to a great day, shopping for craft things, sitting in the sun at lunchtime, funny text and lots of laughs. Now I just need to find room for all this stuff in my room. Have I told you I need a bigger room??? I do.....bye for now and have fun.

Fly away......

My latest painting, I hope you all like it. I keep going back to it and adding "bits" so I classed it as partially finished. I have lots of canvases at this stage just like scrapbook pages and albums. You then always have something to work on if you are not in the mood to start something new. I am always doing this on never seem to finish many items, but have lots on the go. I will run out of room one day or have to eventually move into Charlottes bedroom as she is never at home. One day I will take over her room and fill it with my craft things.....(a wicked laugh is called for here) She is adamant not to let me! She is finishing her first year at university in a couple of weeks so will be back home for about 10 mins a day. I can't believe how quick her year has gone and now we are preparing for Natasha to go in September. I will have a very quiet house then. Only Daniel and Mike to annoy me then.

Ok back to my painting. I have used techniques I have learn on the She Art course I have been doing for the last couple of months. I love the mixed media way of painting as you combine so many different materials such as paint, paper, fabric, stamps, rub ons etc. I have all these in my stash and now get to use most of them........I still will not go to use my "fav" papers. They are hidden away and only come out on special occasions for me to look at and then away they go again. Any crafter reading this will know what I mean but the rest of you will think I am completely mad. Btw, I am! I am also working on another canvas and hopefully I will get some peace today to work on it as I have Daniel at home driving me mad. He is off to Gran Canaria this afternoon for a week. He has the attic room but for some reason he keeps coming to find me to annoy me. He has always done this and probably always will.......I don't mind really. Hmmm, or do I???

Mike is away with work again in Holland. He arrives home this evening so then the dreaded new kitchen can get started in between everything else he wants to get done over the next few days......new kitchen, means nightmare to me. I want that magic wand again to just make it all happen overnight. Did I tell you where I am going on Saturday? You will all be so jealous when I tell you. I am off to Port Sunlight Craft show....yehhhhh. I have always wanted to go and now have the chance thanks to my lovely friend Gill and Jennifer, who I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, but we message a lot on Facebook and she is another "crafty" person with the same interest as me. Gill is new to craft and both Jennifer and I are determined to convert her soon. I will let you know how it goes at the show and maybe even show you all the goodies I buy.

I had better go and get some housework done so Mike does not think I have spent all the time he has been away in my craft room. He knows I do anyway and never says anything, but his face tells a different story. Watch this space.

Have a good day everyone and speak soon.....x

4th May.........x

I am sitting here at my desk and really should be out enjoying the sunshine today, but I only got in the garden for a little while to water my lovely little (tiny actually) vegtables and then to hang washing out. I lead a very exciting life, did I tell you that already??? I look out of my window of my craft room and watch the oak trees blowing in the breeze, they seemed to have turned very green overnight. I have watched these trees over the seasons for the last 4 and half years of living here.  How they change from the bare trees of the winter and enabling me to watch the squirrels scurrying around them to the lush green colour they are now. I know these trees have been here a long time and also know they were here when my dad worked on the old Burtonwood Air Base during ww2. Makes me feel all sentimental when I think of that and all the history and funny stories he told me as a child. Sunday afternoons spent driving around this area in his old blue beetle car. Wonder how I ended up with one! Then for me to end up living on the very place which he spent the wars years.

I am babbling on today but after all this is my blog and a diary of "me". I am listening to Tonight by Sugarland, such a lovely song and meaningful words. I love the song and go all dreamy when I hear it. Its one of those days and the song goes perfect with the day.....ok, wake up Jackie. Have to go and post my ebay items and then into Warrington with Tasha......that means she will make me spend money on her. The children have a way of doing that, have you noticed? I will have to be strong and not give in to her demands. I can but try. Enjoy the sunshine everyone and tc. x

Cath Kidston anyone?

My first card to go on my blog, how very exciting. I have made this in about 15 mins flat....I timed myself. I usually take hours making a card but this one was so simple. I "borrowed" the Cath Kidstons catalogue from Natasha with strict orders not to use certain pages as she has a slight "thing" for all the flowery things in it. So funny to watch her while she literally drools over everything in the catalogue. There are some very lovely things in there but sooo expensive.

My card is made for Natasha's friend Lissy, who turns 17 tomorrow. She is another CK addict too, so I am sure she will be happy with my little simple card. I hear shouts from Mike that I should sell my cards......same old answer, "one day I will". I am busy selling my old craft things on Ebay and have made the grand total of £63.90 in five days. How good is that? Pity, I have spent it already on art materials from the USA. It was free post and packaging so I just could not resist. Thats me......I can't resist certain things!

What did you do today, the day of the Royal wedding?

Its been yet another lovely sunny day and also the wedding of Kate and William. I had planned to sit all morning and watch it all morning much to the annoyance of my husband but, yes, I managed to stay in bed and watch it. He was interested too (don't think men like to admit they like weddings but secretly I think they do) I was totally taken away with the delicious hats and outfits.....would have been the shoes too the cameras just never zoomed into the shoes, pity! Anyway, I had lots of cups of tea supplied and even breakfast in bed so not too bad a morning after all. The wedding was lovely, the dress was even more lovely and they both looked so very happy and in love, just the way it should be when you are sharing a day like that together. I hope they have a wonderful life together and wish them the best of everything.

Now I have been in my garden taking pictures the flowers. I hate gardening as it ruins my nails (not very good nails atm due to wearing acrylics for month) but I love my plants that are flowering right now. My glorious Peony which has travelled with us for 4 houses and is still going strong. I am very attached to it for some reason. I hope you like my pictures and will put some of my "crafty stuff" here soon. I have been busy visiting my friend in Penrith for a few days and now I am home really need to get on with some painting......there is never enough time in a day to do everything but something you do have to make time for sometimes, especially if they "are" important. My theory is if you don't take the time, you will lose that "thing" and then one day you will realise how important it was and it is too late by then. I like my theories.....Have fun everyone and take care of yourselves.

My Cutey puppy Mollie, she is 7 months old and wanted to be in the pictures I was taking. She loves being in the garden and runs around like a mad dog. She is a sweety.......so are Millie and Maisie.

I am now going to enjoy the last of the sunshine and take the dogs for a run around the old Burtonwood air strip. See you all soon......

Good Friday.......

For years now we have spent our Easter weekends in the Lake District but, this year we are at home and I am not a happy bunny today, due to this and lots of other things (we won't go into that right now) All my children are either at work or getting ready to go so Mike and I are having a day of painting.......painting the hall, stairs and landing. Not my favourite type of painting but I do have to show willing....I suppose. I like to paint with great brushes, lovely colours and lots of different canvases. I may have to sneak away later and do some of my fav painting.....he may not even notice! I hope you have a great holiday weekend and maybe get some crafting in there sometime......I am hoping so too but its looking like a very slim chance. Oh, never mind I wanted the decorating done for so long and now its will be. Sometimes, I wish we had a magic wand to wave and make everything just so.....oh, how I wish that was the way. Have a good one!

My favourite place to be.......my craft room.

I have tried to figure out where to start with this blog so I decided to share with you all where I actually do my crafting.  My quiet place, where I am able to disappear into when I want to create something or in my case make a complete mess! Its fun though no matter what I do. I love to make cards, scrapbook, paint and jewellery making. I said earlier I should make a list of the things I want to do and tick them off when I eventually get to do them.....I will put that on my list of things to do, make a to do list. Mad!!!

It is organised chaos, my chaos. I know where most things are now and hate when ever anyone wants to look around and use something of mine. My daughters are the worse, Charlotte is doing a Fine Art degree  at Chester University and has been working in my room on her assignments. This means she finds out what I have hidden away in my room.....not a good idea as its like a sweety shop to her. You see her eyes light up, especially when she got her hands on my lovely paints and stamps. My youngest daughter Natasha, walks in the room and her face lights up and says many times to me that she did not realise I had such nice things. They do not seem to understand they are for ME! I dont mind sharing occasionally, just as long as they clean up after themselves and put everything back "in my room".

My very disorganised cupboard with just about everything in it. I found some lovely taffeta rolls of material in The Works, various colours and sooooo yummy. I had to get a roll in each colour. I haven't used them yet but as always...one day I will!
My sanctuary.......I could stay here all day and night but as us crafter all know so well, we have to go and do some housework sometimes and feed our families.
Love my IMac......I am lucky and have a Macbook too. Pffft to all you people who don't like Apple mac.
I love using my Macs and don't think I will ever go back to windows now.

I really like the effect of this picture. My cute little birdcage which everyone who sees it wants it.....nooo, its mine, all mine! My lovely mother day flowers too.

I also share my room with a tank full of tropical fish. I will let you see those another day as my son has to sort the tank out, due to me  feeding the algea eater fish too much food and he is not doing his job eating the algea....lazy fish!

Well here I go......

Last night I was at my friend's Helens craft class with a great bunch of fellow crafters. We had a really good laugh over various things, including Catherine always being first having to have to do anything, I am always last, so we all get to watch her trying out the new craft techniques. So funny! We started to chat about blogs and nearly everyone had one, I had tried to work on mine yesterday and never really got very far. We all agreed to follow each others blogs, so here I am and mine is now started...yehhhh!!! Phew, panic over and first post done. Thanks to everyone last night who encouraged me. You know who you all are.
